Rural Intern Training Allowance
The Rural Intern Training Allowance (RITA) is a new Allowance established under the Fifth Community Pharmacy Agreement. This new Allowance complements the existing CPE/Professional Development Allowance. It will provide financial support to assist intern pharmacists from rural and remote areas to access compulsory intern training program activities. The Allowance will be awarded to intern pharmacists only.
RITA will provide funding for at least 200 rural interns per financial year for a maximum of $1,500 per intern to enable them to defray travel and accommodation costs associated with undertaking compulsory intern training workshops, training days and examinations.
RITA is open to those who meet the following eligibility criteria. Applicants must:
- be an Australian citizen, or permanent resident of Australia (certified copy of; passport photo page, Australian birth certificate, Australian citizenship certificate);
- be an intern pharmacist;
- reside and work in a rural or remote area of Australia; and
- provide evidence to validate claims, eg proof of attendance and receipts.
